Discharge date and days remaining from your enlistment
Choose an enlistment date and service type under the Korean system (army and marines 18 months, navy 20, air force 21, social service 21, full-time reservist 18, or enter the months yourself) to see the discharge date and weekday, total service days, days served, days left and a progress bar. The lengths are the current enlisted terms that apply now that the phased reduction announced in 2018 is complete. It starts with an example enlistment six months before today.
Discharge date = enlistment date + months of service − 1 day. Enlistment day counts as day 1, so the term ends the day before the same date that many months later. If the final month has no such date (enlisting on 31 August, 18 months later is February), discharge is the last day of that month, as in Korean civil-law period counting. Total service days count enlistment and discharge days inclusive; days served count from enlistment to today inclusive. Days left = discharge date − today, and progress = days served ÷ total days × 100. Examples: army enlistment on 5 January 2026 gives discharge on Sunday 4 July 2027, 546 days in total; on 6 October 2026 that is day 275. The same date in the navy gives 4 September 2027 (608 days) and in the air force 4 October 2027 (638 days). Army enlistment on 31 August 2025 gives 28 February 2027 (547 days).
Enlistment day is day 1. Joining on 5 January means exactly 18 months end on 4 July the following year; 5 July is the first day of month 19.
For the army's 18 months, February has no 31st, so it is the last day of February: 28 February 2027 for enlistment on 31 August 2025, and 29 February 2028 (a leap year) for 31 August 2026.
Days from enlistment to today (inclusive) divided by total service days, as a percentage. It is 0% before enlistment and 100% on discharge day.
Ordinary leave counts. Some absences, such as unauthorised absence or certain disciplinary periods, do not, and the discharge date shifts back accordingly. Individual cases are decided by your unit.
Choose 'Enter months yourself' and type the months from official guidance; the same rule applies (start + months − 1 day, or the month end if that date does not exist).
A reference calculation based on Korean rules. Service length and discharge dates are confirmed by the Military Manpower Administration and your unit, and rules can change.
